More than 2/3 of parliament members signed up to elect Iraq’s president this coming Monday.  220 members of the house…In 72 hours you will see those votes become the remaining president that’s required to form the government of Iraq.  Once the government is formed the parliament… will declare we open the budget.  The first item is a rate.  All budgets open with an established rate…that pays for the whole budget… 1300 can’t do this monster budget…We can pretend 1300 is doing it, but it won’t do it…1300…destroys their whole economic reform…

It’s time to take off the rose colored glasses and see the real world. In my 14 years of involvement with the IQD, I have never seen so much wishful thinking…There are no 800 numbers. There is no window. There are no exchange centers. In other words, there is no chance of an RV anytime in the near future. Iraq has a thousand things that need to be done first, and then on top, there is ISO-20022 compliance to be dealt with.

The progress in reforms are taking shape.  It’s coming along nicely even under heated conditions in the Middle East right now.  Iraq is not stopping.  The development road project is not stopping.  I think it’s powerful to understand is just because there’s turmoil doesn’t mean [they’re derailed].  This planet still spins 24/7.  So does  trade.  The world is watching…

[Iraq dramatically increasing their US Treasury bond holdings] signals to me they are preparing for some type of monetary and financial event.  Now, I personally don’t see anything happening until the Iran war is either finalized or coming to an end…The situation can change at any moment.  There are so many moving parts.
